Private George Allan Walsh was serving with the 2nd Battalion, PWOR (MG) during WW2 and accidentally drowned while home on Christmas leave December 20, 1943.

He is the only soldier in the 152 year history of the PWOR to have died while on active service during wartime while serving with the PWOR.  In addition, he is the only soldier from the Regiment’s entire history to be listed with the Commonwealth War Graves Commission as having died while serving with the Regiment.  His page with them is at http://www.cwgc.org/find-war-dead/casualty/2954208/WALSH,%20GEORGE%20ALLAN
