Join the Cadets

What if there was a dynamic, structured youth program that offered Canadian teenagers a variety of interesting and challenging activities, taught them valuable life skills and lessons, and provided them with an opportunity to travel across Canada and the world, to earn money or a scholarship? And what if all of this came free of charge? Wouldn’t you want to know more about it?

If you’re 12 to 19 years of age, want to meet friends and try something new, then we have just the thing for you! By joining Cadets, you are saying YES to fun activities and exciting challenges supervised by trained adult leaders.

What do Cadets do?

Lots of different things – many of which involve outdoor adventure, sailing, flying and training!

You will participate in these activities during the weekly meetings and on the weekends. You will also support your community by taking part in citizenship events organized by your cadet corps.  (This will help you with your 40 hours of community service for school.) Cadets are encouraged to become active, responsible members of their communities. They learn valuable life and work skills like teamwork, leadership and citizenship. Cadets also reap the personal benefits of increased self-confidence and physical fitness, learning how to take initiative and how to make decisions.

Youth often participate in the Cadet Program because of the rewards:

  • Sense of accomplishment
  • Recognition from their peers and mentors
  • Once-in-a-lifetime experiences
  • Life-long friends
  • A chance to showcase their talents and maturity
  • Self-confidence, self-discipline, self-esteem and increased self-awareness
  • Community involvement

They also participate in fun activities, get the chance to travel and have summer employment opportunities.

Those interested in joining 2587 PWOR RC(Army)CC or want more information are invited to come on the unit’s parade night 1830-1930 (6:30 – 9:30 pm ) on Wednesdays at the PWOR Armouries at 100 Montreal Street, Kingston, or get in touch using the email address below:
