About The Band
The PWOR Foundation Pipes and Drums are an all-volunteer, pipe and drum band sponsored by the Princess of Wales’ Own Regiment. The Band practices and performs every Tuesday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. in the PWOR Armouries, 100 Montreal Street in Kingston, Ontario.
Many of the band members are currently serving with the Canadian Armed Forces. From Lieutenant Colonels to enlisted Privates, the band draws its talent from a diverse cross-section of military and civilian personnel.
The band’s mission statement is to provide Highland pageantry with military tradition first and foremost to the Princess of Wales’ own Regiment (PWOR), performing in the city of Kingston and surrounding communities.
Some events the PWOR Foundation Pipes and Drums contribute to include:
- The Relay for Life charity event
- The REME Reunion Memorial Parade
- Remembrance Day Parades
- Various Santa Parades, such as in Lyndhurst and Gananoque
- The PWOR Birthday Dinner
- The Robbie Burns Dinner in Gananoque
- The March of Dimes
- Canada Day Parade in Bath, ON
If you are over the age of 14 you can join the PWOR Foundation Pipes and Drums, drop by the Armouries Monday evenings between 6:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. The Band offers free instruction, free equipment use – learn a skill that lasts a life time!
