Association Events

We have a  FB page…PWORassociation  ( closed ) or princess of wales’ own regiment association ( public )

The PWOR Association participates in several events and activities throughout the year. Some of these are:

January 1st New Year’s Levee (when members are available)
An occasion to exchange New Year’s greetings and best wishes for the new year, to renew old acquaintances and to meet new friends and comrades. It is also an opportunity to reflect upon the events of the past year and to welcome the opportunities of the New Year.

January – Annual Sports Competition
As is tradition, on the first parade after the Christmas/New Year’s break, Association members help set-up and volunteer for refereeing and score-keeping for the annual sports competition between the Officers, WOs and Sgts, MCpls and the Junior Ranks. It is always a big rivalry for the coveted trophy and a fun-filled night for all.

January – Regimental Birthday

April – Vimy Day Parade
The Association parades with the Regiment on the Thursday before or after 9 April in honouring our fallen comrades at Vimy Ridge on Easter Monday 1917. All of the names of the fallen are called out on parade.

November 11 – Remembrance Day
The Association falls in with the Regiment for ceremonies at the Cross of Sacrifice Monument, the 21st Battalion Monument and at the Vimy Cross. Following the parade there is a time for camaraderie in the messes.

December – Soldiers’ Christmas Dinner
At this annual festive event, the Association members join the Officers, WOs and Sgts in serving turkey dinner to the troops, after which we dine. Following the dinner when deserving members of the Regiment are recognized for their outstanding accomplishments, the PWOR Association presents a monetary award to the Top Combat Arms Soldier and the Top Support Trade Soldier.

December – Socials
During the festive season, Association members and their guests enjoy a dining out evening at one of Kingston’s fine restaurants. Another popular outing that we hope to do again this year is a summer cruise of the Thousand Islands
